Free Activities in Ipswich this summer to prevent anti-social behaviour
These activities can also help parents with cheap ideas for summer.
Free activities are being held in Ipswich this summer - in a bid to give local youngsters something to do during the summer and prevent anti-social behaviour.
They're being put on by the Borough Council and will run until the end of August to support young people's safety and teach them life skills.
They can take part in team building, sports, wellbeing and behaviour discussions and themed craft activities.
Six organisations are supporting the activities after receiving over £5,500 in funding with the aim to engage around 300 young people living in and around Ipswich.
Former Mayor of Ipswich Councillor John Cook told us keeping children busy with fun activities means they're less likely to engage in anti-social behaviours.
"The devil makes work vital hands- and we know that the moment (in) summer holidays, kids get bored. Mums and dad, under the cost of living crisis, haven't, perhaps got resources to spend a lot of money on days out.
"What we're trying to do is provide activities which will get people doing something positive and that will benefit the young people concerned and it will go to benefit the whole town."
Mr Cook recalled what it was like looking after his children and how difficult it was to come up with new ideas to keep them entertained but that there are a variety of activities being offered this summer so "there should be something here for everyone."
"It's good to have low cost or free activities for youngsters to do and it's good just to have ideas."
