Former Ipswich Town striker David Johnson dies aged 71

Ipswich Town says its 'saddened' following the death of former striker David Johnson, at the age of 71.

He joined the Tractor Boys in 1972 from Everton and ended up making 178 appearances for the club before moving to Liverpool in 1976.

He was part of the club during the Bobby Robson era and was in the side that beat Real Madrid in the UEFA Cup.

Johnson found the net 46 times in his four seasons with Town and was called up for England by Don Revie during his time at the club - he had eight caps for his country.
