A former industrial site in Ipswich could be replaced with 26 new council homes, if plans are approved.

Ipswich Borough Council says its planning to build a mix of two to four bed homes with gardens at the site once occupied by Diesco on Hawke Road.

The new homes will have access to EV charging points, solar panels and a brand new play area.

The Diesco garage site has been closed for several years and preliminary demolition work has now begun.

Ipswich Borough Councillor Neil MacDonald said:

“I am delighted to see this preliminary demolition work in advance of submitting a detailed planning application for this area on Hawke Road.

"It demonstrates our continued desire and commitment to building high-quality and energy efficient new homes for local people.”
