Five people have been arrested following the discovery of two cannabis factories in Ipswich and Kesgrave.

The first was discovered in Kesgrave after police stopped a car in Ipswich and later obtained a warrant to search a property in Orchard Grove.

78 mature cannabis plants were discovered and seized.

Three men have been charged with the production of cannabis, including:

• Taulant Mataj, aged 40, of no fixed address

• Taulant Kingji, aged 31, of Cotton Road, Mendlesham

• Dorald Mica, aged 21, of Orchard Grove, Kesgrave

Yesterday (December 8) police raided a disused building in Princes Street, finding a large number of plants across three floors of the building.

Mains electricity had also been tampered with at the address.

Two men, aged 26 and 27, have been questioned on suspicion of producing cannabis.

Superintendent Andy Martin, of Suffolk Constabulary, said: “These two cases demonstrate how our officers act on their instincts, develop credible intelligence and take swift and robust action where necessary.

“Both factories have now been dismantled and all the plants destroyed, ensuring these drugs are taken out of the supply chain and will not become something sold on our streets.”
