Fire service tackling huge blaze at scrap metal site in Great Blakenham

People are being advised to keep their windows and doors shut.

Suffolk Fire and Rescue service are dealing with a fire that has broken out in the scrap metals section of Sackers Recycling in Gipping Road, Great Blakenham.

Images on social media show huge thick plumes of smoke that can be seen for at least two miles.

It's also causing disruption on the railway lines, Greater Anglia says all lines are blocked due to the fire near the railway, which is suspected to involve gas cylinders between Needham Market and Ipswich.

Train services running through those stations may be cancelled, delayed or revised.

Disruption is expected until further notice.

While firefighters tackle the blaze, people living nearby are being told to keep their windows and doors shut.
