Five houses catch fire in Suffolk town

Residents have been evacuated after five houses caught fire in a Suffolk street.

It happened overnight near Bury St Edmunds - at it's peak, 15 fire engines were in attendance.

Suffolk Police say officers were called to Bury Road in Hengrave around 1:20am this morning to reports of five houses ablaze.

It's believed at least some of the houses affected have thatched roofs.

There have been no injuries and police say the evacuations are just a temporary precaution.

There's currently a road closure in place in both directions on Bury Road near to Hengrave Hall and on Mill Road.
