Stacked containers filled with facemasks catch fire at Industrial Estate in Sudbury

Suffolk fire crews have now put out blaze involving three lorry containers and dozens of pallets at a factory site

Firefighters were called this afternoon to a fire at the rear of a factory on Milner Road, on the Chilton Industrial Estate in Sudbury.

Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service said they received the emergency call at 14:12.

The fire involved three 30-foot lorry containers stacked on top of each other. The containers reportedly contained facemasks, and there were also around 40 empty pallets nearby.

Crews from Sudbury, Long Melford and Wickhambrook attended, with four fire engines sent to the scene.

A spokesperson for Suffolk Fire and Rescue said: “The fire was extinguished at 16:12. Crews are now working to remove the cargo from the containers.”

No injuries have been reported.
