An auction of guitars, clothes and shoes owned by Ed Sheeran's expected to raise thousands of pounds for a local charity today.

The Suffolk-based musician's given St Elizabeth's Hospice two hundred items to auction off - including a custom decorated acoustic guitar.

Any money raised will go towards helping young people and adults with progressive and incurable illnesses.

"It’s a truly unique opportunity for all Ed Sheeran fans"

Clare Chater, Direction of Income Generation at St Elizabeth Hospice, said: “We’d like to thank Ed for his amazing generosity in donating such a fantastic series of items for the auction. It’s a truly unique opportunity for all Ed Sheeran fans!

“Our thanks also go to Bishop & Miller for hosting the auction, which will raise vital funds to support our services.

“Annually, our hospice team supports thousands of people, throughout East & Mid Suffolk, Great Yarmouth & Waveney. We’re reliant on donations and fundraising to continue our work and every penny raised by the auction will make a difference to those under our care.”

“Ed’s donation to the hospice is an incredibly kind gesture"

Claire Dorman, whose husband James Dorman received care from St Elizabeth Hospice, said: “There will be so many families across Suffolk grateful to Ed Sheeran for his generosity in helping to raise funds for the St Elizabeth Hospice. The hospice have never faltered in their care for my family, during my husband James’ illness and after we lost him.

“When James and I first started dating in 2011, we spent many hours driving around in his car listening to Ed’s + album, it was our absolute favourite.

"Our daughter and her friends are all now huge fans too, so it’s come full circle!

“Ed’s donation to the hospice is an incredibly kind gesture and the funds it will generate are absolutely vital in allowing the hospice to continue their important work – so please take part and place a bid!”
