Ed Sheeran shocked people in Ipswich Town centre when he threw a surprise gig there yesterday.

He posted on his Instagram stories that he'd just bought a new guitar and wanted to try it out.

Using the town hall as a stage he rocked out with the crowd to all his biggest hits including 'Shape of You' and 'Don't'.

Ed even gifted one lucky ten-year-old, Arthur Baggett, who'd missed his guitar lesson to watch the concert, the guitar he'd used after the performance, complete with a personal inscription reading: "Arthur! Play this guitar!"

Arthur told us his reaction: "I'm just so exhilarated that I got this gift! It's really crazy. This guitar will be in my family for years to come."

Ipswich Town Council also reacted to Sheeran's surprise appearance, writing on Facebook: "Well, that doesn’t happen every day… working from Ipswich Town Hall today and ‘bump’ into Ed Sheeran doing a gig... What a fantastic end to the day."
