Suffolk Police say a horse has died following what turned out to be a fatal collision for the animal in Earl Soham yesterday - and are now appealing for witnesses.

In the incident, it's reported the female rider was left badly shaken - but suffered from minor injuries.

The force received calls late yesterday morning, after it happened at about 11.15AM on Church Lane.

When the emergency services arrived, the horse then had to be humanely put down.

It's not yet known who the driver is - as they did not stop at the time of the incident.

As the motorist failed to stop, police are asking anyone with information to get in touch - especially witnesses of the collision, or those who have dashcam footage of what happened to track the driver down.

For those reporting information to the force on 101, the incident reference is CAD 158 of Saturday, October 22.
