A 23-year-old man from the West Midlands has been jailed for supplying cocaine in Ipswich.

Fabiol Rusta, of Wheeley’s Lane in Birmingham, appeared before Ipswich Crown Court on Wednesday 19 July, where he was sentenced to 20 months’ imprisonment.

Rusta had previously pleaded guilty to a charge of possession of cocaine with intent to supply.

The crime occurred earlier this year, on Thursday 25 May, when Rusta was detained for a drugs search in Ipswich town centre and a number of white rocks wrapped in clingfilm were found on his person.

He was subsequently arrested and the room he had been staying in was searched, where officers found multiple white wraps in a plastic bag, £300 in cash and digital scales.

Officers then viewed CCTV footage covering the area near to where Rusta had been staying, which showed, during a period of two hours and twenty minutes, Rusta was seen to enter and exit an archway at least nine times, returning back to his accommodation within two to five minutes on each occasion.

Police say these movements are consistent with someone street dealing Class A drugs.

Samples of the substances seized from Rusta’s person and also his room were subjected to a drugs identification test later that afternoon and both tested positive for traces of cocaine.

He was charged the following day.

Detective Sergeant Vince Grimsey, of the Serious Crime Disruption Team, said: “The arrest of Fabiol Rusta was an excellent example of proactive policing, after officers acted on intelligence that a man was believed to be dealing drugs in Ipswich town centre.

“We will continue to take the necessary action to disrupt the supply of drugs into Suffolk and remove dealers from our streets – hopefully these types of criminal and their networks are getting the message that we are not a soft touch.”
