Over 41,200 drivers caught speeding in Suffolk in 2020

41,220 drivers were caught speeding on Suffolk's roads in 2020.

According to Confused.com, which commissioned research on the issue, there was a drop of 2.9% compared to the previous year, where 42,448 were caught.

The county saw the second lowest amount of drivers found to be breaking the limit in the region, with Norfolk sitting in the top spot with 51,472.

Motorists were caught travelling at speeds of 140mph on the A14 at Kentford, 125mph on the A14 at Stowmarket and the same speed on the A12 and Wickham Market

The same data shows the most problematic roads for speeding offences last year were:

  • A12 Stratford St Mary to East Bergholt (6,264)
  • A12 East Bergholt to Stratford St Mary (5474)
  • A140 Coddenham (1,505)

The county which recorded the lowest amount of drivers caught speeding in the region was Cambridgeshire at 35,698, while Essex saw the biggest drop in those caught (43%).
