Almost £55,000 raised to bring Diego the bear to Jimmy's Farm in Suffolk
It's hoped the brown bear will be able to move to the UK from a zoo in Sweden
Almost £55,000 has been raised so far to help bring a bear from a zoo in Sweden to Jimmy's Farm in Suffolk.
Diego, who is a brown bear, has to move from his current home at Orsa Predator Park as the zoo is closing down.
If he cannot be rehomed he will have to be put to sleep.
TV presenter and farmer Jimmy Doherty launched a fundraising campaign earlier this month to help pay for the move, as well as a new enclosure for Diego.
Jimmy's Farm, a working farm and wildlife park near Wherstead, has already managed to rehome a polar bear named Ewa from Orsa.
In an update posted on GoFundMe, Jimmy wrote: "Your support has brought us incredibly close to reaching our target."
"We are just a few steps away from making a significant difference in Diego's life. Your contribution means the world to us!"
