Police are investugating a crash in Felixstowe, which is being linked to an earlier incident of anti-social behaviour and nitrous oxide use near the sea front.

Just after 5pm on Tuesday 1 June, officers received a report that a group of people were acting in a disorderly manner and believed to be using balloons to inhale nitrous oxide close to the pier in Undercliff Road West.

A group of males were then seen to drive off in a black hatchback car towards Langer Road, where a black Kia Niro matching this description was spotted by police officers in stationary traffic.

Upon seeing the police vehicle the car pulled out of the queuing traffic it was waiting in, colliding with other vehicles in the process and then turned left into Beach Station Road. It came to a stop in Sea Road, where the occupants exited the car and ran off.

At 5.30pm officers arrested a 21-year-old man from Hertfordshire, near the junction of Tacon Road and Pretyman Road, on suspicion of drug-driving. He was taken to Martlesham PIC for questioning & has been released under investigation pending further enquiries.

Officers would like to hear from any witnesses to these incidents, or anyone driving in any of the roads mentioned at the relevant times who may have captured dashcam footage.

Anyone with information about this incident, is asked to contact Felixstowe Safer Neighbourhood Team, quoting reference: 28829/21.
