Suffolk County Council hikes council tax rate by nearly 4%

People in Suffolk are facing a council tax hike of nearly 4%.

It's as Suffolk County Council has voted to approve its annual budget for the year.

The local authority's dedicated nearly ÂŁ690 million pounds to spend in the county between April 2023 and 2024.

Part of the funding will come from a 3.99% increase council tax for Suffolk householders, which comprises of:

  • an increase in the element relating to county-wide services equivalent to a 1.99% rise in Council Tax
  • an increase in the element ring-fenced to help fund Adult Social Care (the Social Care Precept) equivalent to a 2.00% rise in Council Tax

  • Adult & Community Services - ÂŁ326.4 million (47%)
  • Children & Young People - ÂŁ150.9m (22%)
  • Central Resources & Capital Financing - ÂŁ55.3m (8%)
  • Growth, Highways & Infrastructure - ÂŁ51.5m (7%)
  • Corporate Services - ÂŁ38.2m (6%)
  • Public Health & Communities - ÂŁ39.9m (6%)
  • Fire & Public Safety - ÂŁ25.4m (4%)
