Suffolk Police urges people to stay vigilant of cold callers
The warning comes after a man attempted to scam an elderly woman in her 80s.
Suffolk Police is urging residents to stay vigilant to cold callers in the county.
It follows an incident in Bury St Edmunds recently where a woman in her 80s was targeted.
A man knocked at a property on Cornfield Road at around 10am on 15 April, claiming he was from the bank and needed money to be transferred to an account.
The victim told the man to leave, which he did and nothing was taken.
He is described at white, aged around 50, approximately five foot five and of a slim build.
Suffolk Police is reminding people of the following advice when dealing with cold callers:
- Use your door chain and spy hole viewer
- Never open your door unless you know who is calling
- Always ask for identification
- Put up a 'No Cold Callers' sign
