A business owner in Suffolk is calling on the new Labour Government to support small businesses with high costs of essentials.

Coffee Cat in Ipswich tell us Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer must get working on a plan to make sure that independents are not left behind.

It follows a major loss for the Conservatives in Suffolk, who have held on to just two seats.

Kier Starmer's Labour secured a landslide victory in Friday's General Election, winning more than 400 of the 650 seats, including Ipswich seat previously held by Conservative Tom Hunt:

Labour won in Bury St Edmunds, Lowestoft, Suffolk Coastal and Ipswich.

Kie Humphries from Coffee Cat said: "There's a bit of apprehension really, it's someone new, and it's not every day that you have a new style of politics"

"We need a decrease in taxation on the lower bands, so people can keep more of their money rather than the employer constantly increasing prices among everything else that's going on"

"We want certainty , we're on the edge of new policies, new announcements and another budget to get your head around."
