Coastguard calls off search for man who went into sea off Aldeburgh
Lifeboat crews, helicopters and a plane have been involved in the search over the past 24 hours
The coastguard has called off a search for a missing man who went into the sea off the coast of Aldeburgh yesterday.
The search was launched at around 1:15pm yesterday (September 20) following a 999 call from a member of the public.
Coastguard Rescue Teams from Aldeburgh and Lowestoft were involved, along with RNLI lifeboats from Aldeburgh, Southwold and Lowestoft, two HM Coastguard rescue helicopters and a coastguard plane.
Despite extensive searches in challenging weather conditions the man could not be found.
Suffolk Police say they believe they know the identity of the missing man and his family has been informed.
