Cannabis factory worth £100,000 found in Sudbury

Approximately 150 plants were discovered inside a property this week

A cannabis factory, with an estimated street value of £100,000, has been found in Sudbury.

According to Suffolk Police it was discovered by officers from the Sudbury Safer Neighbourhood Team at a property on Middleton Road.

They had attended the address at around 11.30am on Monday (12 April) to speak to a male about an unrelated matter.

Officers from the Operation Scorpion team, which tackles drug dealing and related crimes, supported the recovery and is assisting in the investigation.

Three people were arrested at the property:

  • A 17-year-old boy on suspicion of being concerned in supplying a controlled drug and being involved in modern slavery offences.
  • A 44-year-old man on suspicion of the above offences and driving whilst disqualified and driving with no insurance.
  • A 20-year-old male on suspicion of being concerned in supplying controlled drugs.

They were questioned at Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre and later released under investigation.
