A man's suffered serious injuries after a car smashed into the front of a hotel in Bury St Edmunds.

Suffolk Police were called to the Premier Inn on Etna Road at 8:05pm on Friday.

The car, a Renault Captur, had crashed through the front doors and into the building.

A member of staff, a man in his 20s, was taken to hospital with serious injuries, where he remains.

The driver of the car, a woman in her 50s, was not injured.

Pictures on social media show the front of the hotel has been boarded up.

Detectives are appealing for anyone who witnesses the crash, or has dashcam footage of it, to get in touch as they investigate the crash.

Anyone with information is being asked to report it online to the Bury St Edmunds Roads and Armed Policing team, or by calling 101, quoting CAD 284 of 8 March.
