Michael McCulloch, who's 46 and from London Road, has been jailed for seven months after pleading guilty to one count of burglary and one of attempted burglary.

It's after a church cafe on London Road was broken into on Sunday 28th March and a safe containing £300 in cash was taken.

£70 worth of vouchers and groceries from the food bank were also stolen.

Police say the incident was captured on CCTV and, following enquiries, a man matching the appearance of the suspect was identified as the same suspect of an attempted burglary on Friday 2nd April, at Martin's Furnishers on High Street in Mildenhall.

CCTV captured him attempting to break in to the property using a crow bar, as well as attempting to gain access to a parked vehicle outside.

McCulloch was arrested on Tuesday 6th April in connection with both incidents and taken to Bury St Edmunds station for questioning.

He's been given seven months in prison and ordered to pay £375 in compensation.

A second suspect, a man in his 40s, was also arrested by police in connection with the Brandon burglary.

He has been released under investigation whilst enquiries continue.
