A man arrested in connection with the shooting of five birds of prey in West Suffolk earlier this year has been released under investigation.

The suspect, in his 70s and from the Brandon area, was questioned on suspicion of killing/taking a schedule 1 wild bird, possession of a schedule one wild bird and breach of firearms licence conditions.

It comes after five Goshawks were found dead in a parking area off the B1106 in King's Forest, near Wordwell on January 16.

X-rays showed each had suffered multiple injuries after being shot.

Birds of prey are protected by law and anyone who kills or injures one could face a jail sentence or an unlimited fine.
