Arrest made after stabbing in Ipswich

A man has been arrested following a serious assault in which a man was stabbed in Ipswich.

Police were called at around 8.10pm yesterday, Monday 29 July, to reports of an incident in Christchurch Park in Ipswich.

It is believed that a man, aged in his 20s, was approached by another man before being attacked.

The victim sustained serious stab wound injuries and was taken to hospital by ambulance.

His injuries are not believed to be life threatening but could be potentially life changing.

Following the incident, a 48- year-old man was arrested in Ipswich today, Tuesday 30 July, on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm. He was taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre for further questioning, where he currently remains.

Police believe this was a targeted assault and there is no wider threat to the community.

Officers would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information.

Equally officers would like to speak to anyone who has CCTV or a doorbell camera or who may have been driving on the area at the time and has relevant dash-camera footage.
