Police have launched an appeal to find the owners of two Spaniels who were rescued during a traffic stop in Newmarket.
Officers stopped a white Ford tipper van towing a caravan on Newmarket High Street on Saturday (February 4).
As they searched the vehicle they found a wooden box containing the two dogs, who were both scanned for microchips.
One of the brown Spaniels was identified as stolen - possibly from the Doncaster area of Yorkshire.
The dogs, dubbed Bramble and Bella by officers, were seized and are now being cared for in Bury St Edmunds.
The two occupants of the van, a 24 year old man and a 22 year old woman, were arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods.
Both have been released under investigation.
Anyone with information about the owners of the dogs is being urged to contact Suffolk Police.
