Applications are now open for musicians to perform at the UK's largest one day music festival - Ipswich Music Day.

The free event is due to take place at Christchurch Park on July 2.

Thousands of people are expected to watch performances across six different stages.

Visitors can also enjoy street food, family entertainment and a marketplace.

Performers won't be paid a fee but will be given the chance to showcase their talent in front of thousands of people.

Councillor Sophie Connelly, of Ipswich Borough Council, said: “We’re proud to be celebrating the 33rd anniversary of Ipswich Music Day this summer, which is set to bring another fantastic celebration of music, culture, and local talent to Christchurch Park.

"The free event is a brilliant opportunity for performers of all musical styles and genres to showcase their talent.

"Last year was our biggest and best on record, with over 25,000 people attending.

"If you know someone who could be the next star from Ipswich – encourage them to apply for their chance to play in front of thousands and get their name out there!”

Applications are open until midnight on March 24. A selection committee will then choose artists to perform.
