Four weeks since a woman was attacked in Suffolk whilst walking her dog, police are yet to charge anyone over her death.

57 year old Anita Rose was found with a serious head injury on a track road off of Rectory Close in Brantham on 24th July.

She died in hospital four days later.

So far, three people have been arrested and bailed in connection with the incident - two on suspicion of murder.

On the four week anniversary of the attack, Detective Superintendent Mike Brown, from Suffolk Police, confirmed their investigations are ongoing: “As you will all be no doubt aware, today marks four weeks since Anita Rose left her house to go on a dog walk and sadly lost her life.

“Since we launched this investigation, our officers have painstakingly preserved and searched the scene and surrounding areas, taken an extensive amount of statements from witnesses, which includes house to house visits in the area, and continue to search through hundreds of hours of CCTV footage whilst the processing of forensic evidence continues to be completed and analysed.

"This all remains ongoing and the investigation continues to be treated as a priority to the constabulary in an effort to establish the circumstances around Anita’s death.

"It’s important that the public continue to engage with us"

“I’d like to thank Anita’s family, the community and media for their continued support and co-operation throughout this investigation. The responses we have received via our Major Incident Public Portal and questionnaires have been invaluable and it’s important that the public continue to engage with us.

“I’d like to reassure everyone that Anita’s family continue to be supported by specialised officers during this time.

“For those in the community, you can expect to continue to see officers in Brantham as they carry out further enquiries and I encourage anyone with information in regards to Anita’s investigation to engage with our officers.

“As per our most recent appeal from the weekend, I also ask anyone with any information regarding the whereabouts of Anita’s pink jacket and black quilted phone case to come forward.”

Renewed appeal

On Saturday (17th August) the force released new images of Anita’s jacket and missing phone case, in the hopes that someone has seen them, or has information on their whereabouts.

Officers confirmed that the missing waterproof pink zip-up jacket is from Regatta.

It is from the Autumn/Winter 2017 range and is a Calderdale II in Duchess Dark Cerise, which is no longer produced.

Whilst officers have previously located and recovered Anita’s mobile phone – an Apple iPhone – they are now also appealing to locate Anita’s missing phone case which is described as a black wallet style quilted case with gold crown and stud detail.

Detective Superintendent Mike Brown said: “We continue to believe these missing items could hold key information or evidence to the investigation and ask anyone with any information to come forward and speak with us."
