Ipswich Town's new signing, Ali Al-Hamadi, says he's excited to get started.

The striker's signed a four-and-a-half year deal at Portman Road, joining from AFC Wimbledon for an undisclosed fee.

The 21-year-old has scored 17 goals so far this season and now says he's looking forward to making the step up to Championship level when he returns from international duty with Iraq.

Speaking to TownTV, Ali said: “I’ve been speaking to the Manager and he has laid out what the pathway might be for me and what he expects from me.

“I’m a very ambitious person so when a Manager as good as that and a Club as big as Ipswich have those conversations with you it is exciting.

“I’m football mad and watch any game that’s on TV, so I’ve seen Ipswich play a bit and it’s always high intensity, hungry off the ball and attractive football on it.

“That’s what you associate with Ipswich right now and that fits my characteristics quite well because I’m quick, powerful and like to get people off their feet. I’d say I’m quite a good fit for what’s going on at Ipswich right now.

“It’s exciting, attacking football which is what any young forward would want to be involved in.”
