The campaign group Be Lucky Anti-Crime Foundation in Suffolk is calling for more to be done to help young people stay away from gangs/
This follows celebrity Idris Elba speaking out against knife crime
Paul Stansby has been campaigning against knife crime since his brother Dean was fatally stabbed in 2017.
He told us he would have liked to see celebrities get on board with this "a long time ago...to endorse safer futures for generations to come. "
That being said, he does appreciate how celebrities do "have power" and can "influence" the public and enforce change.
But overall he thinks the attention is "absolutely positive."
Paul Stansby would also like to see Prime Minister Rishi Sunak taking more action.
"If he he can ban dogs (XL Bully's) from from existing in under a year. He could do something about knife crime a lot quicker...we've got so much evidence on knife crime being an issue for young people that this should have already been put first."
He went on to say how young people need safe spaces, activities and opportunities to prevent them from falling into gangs and criminal behaviour.
"If there was some help out there and some good people that are willing to give apprenticeships out to struggling kids to help them, you'll see these kids change.
"They will change because someone will believe in them.
"They'll be doing something that will show them there's something else possible than the streets- and they're not going to prison and they're being educated and they're being taught how to be young men and women."
Paul went on to say how there are so many things which influence a young persons decision to get involved in gangs and knife crime and that all of these need to be tackled all at once otherwise "something else that will come in its place."
