What can listeners expect from Spinnin’ The 60s with Stephanie Hirst on Greatest Hits Radio 60s?
Stephanie told us: "This show is totally unique to UK radio, you’ll actually get to hear those huge 60s hits, played from the original 7” singles, as they were first intended to be heard, complete with their gorgeous imperfections!"

We asked Stephanie what it's like playing vinyl on live radio:
Stephanie told us: "Adrenalin filled and scary at times…. will the record jump or stick…will the stylus break? There are so many variables. Even after all these years of collecting vinyl, it still blows my mind that a diamond stylus in the groove of a piece of vinyl can produce the most incredible sound."
We asked Stephanie what she loves most about the 60s:
"As I was born in the 1970s, I’m really gutted that I missed out on coming of age in the mid 60s. My Mum had a stack of 60s singles which I got my hands on as a teenager, and I immediately became obsessed with the music, culture and fashion of the 60s.
"I have large black and white iconic photograph of Twiggy in all her 60s pomp hanging in the kitchen area of my home, along with a few original fashion pieces from the 60s too, including the most gorgeous red leather trench coat. I’m also very proud of my friend Rita Britton, who hails from my hometown of Barnsley. She launched a fashion brand called Pollyanna in the 60s and was the very first shop outside of London to stock the Mary Quant mini skirt in the 60s."
Who are Stephanie Hirst's greatest artists from the 60s?
"I’m a big Beatles/Stones fan, along with Dusty, The Who, Small Faces, Aretha, Joe Cocker, and Levi Stubbs of The Four Tops…what a voice!"
What do the good times sound like to Stephanie Hirst?
"They sound like, letting your bee-hive hair down, losing yourself in the psychedelic sounds and with a little help from your friends… twisting the night away!"
How did Stephanie Hirst get into radio?
Stephanie told us: "My parents took me along to a local radio station open day in Leeds when I was nine years old. I was so blown away with what I saw that day, I decided during that visit that I wanted to work there when I was old enough... By my early teenage years after writing many letters, and running up my parents phone bill by calling the station, I was eventually given the opportunity to become a voluntary helper, filing records away in the library and making 1000s of cups of tea for DJ’s! I eventually got my first show there at the age of 16, on the overnight slot, which included a lot of… 'A big hello to all you truckers out there!'"
What does Stephanie Hirst get up to outside of radio?
Steph's got a busy schedule outside of the studio! She told us: "I love keeping fit, it feels so good after a workout session…I also still own my very first car which is now classed as a classic, as it’s a 1980s Vauxhall Nova which has been completely restored, so spring and summer are always filled with showing her off at classic car shows! If you see me at one, make sure you say hello!
"I also adore a trip to the record shop to dig through a box of dusty singles to see what treasure I can find…and of course spending good times with friends…you gotta have your tribe!"
