We’ve been working with Dogs Trust to help dogs in their care find their happy homes. Every week, Ken’s been shining a spotlight on some of the dogs in Dogs Trust’s care who sometimes take a little longer to be rehomed, affectionately known as their ‘Underdogs’.

Ken met Rocky, a joyful Lurcher cross looking for a home filled with snuggles and snacks, at the Dogs Trust rehoming centre in Harefield, West London.

Rocky was (and still is!) adored by the team there, due to his paw-some nature and loving temperament, but had a run of bad luck when it came to finding his forever family. In fact, Rocky had been with Dogs Trust for nearly two years by the time Ken was introduced to him.

So Ken worked his magic and told listeners about the wonderful doggo he’d met, sharing pup-dates about what Rocky had been up to, and the progress he was making with the brilliant team at Dogs Trust.

Ken said: ‘It was an absolute pleasure to be able to spend some time with Rocky and his friends. As the adopter of several rescue dogs myself, I know just what an unbelievably rewarding and life affirming thing it can be – for both owner and dog.'

In April this year, Imogen and Robert from Reigate in Surrey visited the Dogs Trust centre in Harefield with one thing in mind; Rocky.

Imogen explained: 'We really wanted to adopt a dog as we just know there are so many lovely dogs out there needing love. I went on the Dogs Trust website and the only dog that stuck out for me was Rocky. I think his eyes and his energy were just magical to me. I also couldn't believe he was an Underdog!! I showed him to Robert the same day and a few days later, we came to visit him. I actually cried when I saw him...'

After several meets with Rocky, the lucky pair were able to officially adopt Rocky and take him home to start his new life!

Imogen and Robert have told us Rocky's settling in really well - and he's already found his very own spot in the sitting room to enjoy the sun!

Imogen said: 'Our first couple of weeks with Rocky have been so special. He has settled in so quickly, sleeps soundly, is eating well, and wagging that lovely long tail. As I am at home the most at the moment, I am the one focusing on consistent training, especially regarding his excitement when seeing other dogs out and about. He is progressing so fast and understanding that he can't say hello to every dog he sees. He'll soon have lots of pals around the town though!'

'We have had friends around a couple of times, and gone to Rob's family home and he has been so friendly and gentle with everyone he's met. We are so enjoying walking him every day and can't wait to take him further afield once he's learnt to relax a bit more around other dogs! What a Rockstar!'
