A woman who knocked down and killed a Crewe man whilst uninsured and without a driving licence has been jailed.

Chester Crown Court has heard Oghenevwaire Shittu inflicted multiple injuries on Stephen Rae when she struck him with her BMW on Nantwich Road, Wistaston, on 9 February.

He died in hospital a short time later.

61-year-old Stephen had been crossing the road and was waiting at a central refuge island clearly marked with two fluorescent bollards, when Shittu's vehicle moved towards the middle of the road and crashed into him.

CCTV footage did not show any evidence of the BMW’s brake lights activating.

The 38-year-old, of of Ruskin Road, Crewe pleaded guilty to death by dangerous driving on 25 June.

She's been handed a 50 month sentence, half of which will be served in custody.
