Woman dies after being hit by a van in Longton

A woman has died following a collision outside a supermarket in Stoke-on-Trent.

Staffordshire Police were called shortly before 12 noon on Tuesday (22 October) to Tesco on Baths Road in Longton following reports of a collision involving a pedestrian and a van.

The pedestrian, 61-year-old Kathleen Nicol, known by her family as Kathy, was taken to hospital by ambulance with life-threatening injuries.

Sadly, Kathleen died in hospital yesterday (Wednesday 23 October).

Specially-trained officers have been deployed to support her family at this difficult time.

The driver of the van stayed at the scene and has been assisting officers with the investigation into the collision.
