Woman assaulted by stranger demanding money in Newcastle

Police are now appealing for CCTV, dashcam and smart doorbell footage

Police are appealing for information after a woman was assaulted in Newcastle-under-Lyme.

The woman was assaulted at a property in the King Street area at approximately 7.30-7.40pm last night (Saturday 9 October) by an unknown man who demanded money and then assaulted her.

The man is described as white, around 5ft 10” to 6ft tall and aged in his mid-20s. He is described as having a slim face with high cheek bones, brown eyes and was clean shaven. He had a local accent.

He was wearing a black waterproof jacket (which looked new) with the hood up and pale grey jogging bottoms.

He fled in the direction of Albert Street.

An investigation is ongoing and officers ask people in the area, and the areas surrounding, or were driving in the area, to review any CCTV, dash-cam or smart doorbell footage they may have.

Detectives are conducting a thorough investigation and local neighbourhood officers will be in the location providing hi-visibility support and reassurance
