Two people have died after a crash involving two vehicles in Warrington.

Police say a collision took place at around 6.10pm on Sunday night between a Nissan Note and a Seat Leon on the A56 Chester Road.

The driver of the Seat, who's 65, and a passenger in the Nissan, aged 42, both died at the scene.

Two other people were rushed to hospital with serious injuries.

In a statement, Cheshire Police said: "At 6.08pm on Sunday 10 November a white Seat Leon was in collision with a silver Nissan Note on the A56 Chester Road, Walton.

"The driver of the Seat, a 65-year-old man, and the rear seat passenger of the Nissan, a 42-year-old woman, sadly died at the scene.

"Two other passengers in the Nissan were taken to hospital with serious injuries."

An investigation is now underway as officers appear for anyone who saw anything to contact them.
