Two arrested after North Staffordshire machete attack

A man was left with head, back and neck injuries

Two people have been arrested following violent disorder which injured two men in Newcastle-under-Lyme.

Police were called at 7.30pm last night (Thursday 10 March) following reports that a man had been attacked with a machete on Bank Street, Newchapel.

Armed officers attended the scene along with the ambulance service.

A 29-year-old man was conveyed to hospital having sustained laceration injuries to his head, back and leg.

His injuries are not believed to be life-changing or life-threatening.

A 22-year-old woman from Congleton and a 30-year-old man from Newcastle-under-Lyme, were later each arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

The 30-year-old man is also currently receiving medical treatment following the disorder.

The woman remains in police custody while inquiries continue.

Officers are currently reviewing CCTV footage of the area at the time and are urging anyone who may have seen what happened to get in touch.
