Teenager detained after reports of someone with knife in Nantwich

A 16-year-old boy has been detained by police after reports someone was seen with a knife in Nantwich town centre.

Police were called to Swine Market on Saturday afternoon, where they found a group of young people.

A number of items were seized including cannabis, a knife and two plastic knives.

Cheshire Police say their enquiries are ongoing.

A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: "At 4.09pm on Saturday 2 October police were called to Swine Market, Nantwich following reports of someone with a knife.

"Police, including taser-trained officers, attended and located a group of young people. A 16-year-old male left the scene and was followed by an officer before being detained and searched. A number of items were seized, including cannabis.

"One knife and two plastic knives were also recovered from the scene. Enquiries are continuing."
