What's in a name? Stoke hospital mislabelled on new road signs
It's the latest mistake on the new Etruria Valley Link Road
It seems that Royal Stoke University Hospital has been renamed in the latest blunder to the new Etruria Valley Link Road which has been open for two weeks.
The link road has been plagued by issues and now locals have spotted one more to add to the list.
One of the directional signs as you are heading to Wolstanton directs you towards ‘Stoke Royal’ which is clearly mislabelled.
This adds to the list of blunders which have been made on the road, as has previously been reported, markings on the £43m road were incorrectly labelled and directed motorists to the ‘A5010 Stoke’ – which is actually Etruria Road in Hanley.
More recently, road widening measures on Festival Way, in Etruria leading to the link road led to the 10ft sculpture of Josiah Wedgwood to be knocked down, in what the city council described as a “significant operation error”.
To add to the confusion felt by motorists there is an additional sign just past the Spitfire roundabout which has got the hospital correctly labelled.
A spokesman for Stoke-on-Trent City Council said: “We would like to thank the person who raised this matter and would like to reassure them that it will be looked into. Any queries about highways in the city can be reported directly to the council via: https://www.stoke.gov.uk/info/20056/road_problems.”
