Stoke's new Labour MPs start setting their priorities
They're starting their first week in the job after the General Election 2024
The new cohort of MPs will be getting settled into life at Westminster today.
Labour are bringing in 412 - a huge majority over the Conservatives, who left government on Friday having dropped to just 121.
Politicians here and across the country will be setting our their priorities.
David Williams is the new MP for Stoke-on-Trent North.
"We all see the statistics in the Stoke. High infant mortality. We've got lots of families living in poverty here. I see the housing conditions they're living in.
"Cost of living. I've had people on the doorsteps talk to me about NHS waiting times, people living in pain because they can't get seen quick enough. People upset because they have that 8am scramble for doctors appointments.
"There's a whole array of issues people care about, and I will be raising those concerns. "
Gareth Snell is the new MP for Stoke-on-Trent Central.
"Levelling Up under the Conservatives has been nothing but a gimmick, so city's like Stoke-on-Trent deserve to have the support they need to thrive. That has to be a partnership with government, the last government simply made it a bidding process to get some money to get some things.
"I shall be knocking on doors of government ministers, those new Labour ministers to say this is what we need in Stoke-on-Trent, this is what our manifesto promised and this is what I want to see delivered.
"That also means working with the new Labour government to deliver for our country, because our city will only thrive if our country thrives."
