The family of a dying boy from Staffordshire are appealing for people to send cards ahead of his 4th birthday.

Lennie Eyre, from Burton-upon-Trent, suffers from a heart condition called CCTGS (Congenitally Corrected Transposition of the Great Arteries) and has been getting treatment for more than a year and a half at Birmingham Children's Hospital.

He's had open heart surgery twice but it hasn't been successful and in December 2019 his family found out that he was in end stage heart failure and his only option was a heart transplant.

However they recently discovered a heart transplant was no longer viable and Lennie's receiving palliative care with nothing more that can be done.

He celebrates his 4th birthday on August 16th and his family are asking for as many cards as possible to be sent to him so it can be as special as possible.

His mum, Laura, says it would be "amazing" for people to take their time to let him know they're thinking about him.

"Anything that he can open, he absolutely loves it.

"For him it would be amazing and for us as a family it would be amazing to think that there's that many people out there just taking the time to send him a little something.

Lennie's family say he loves opening presents and cards

"You wouldn't think there's anything wrong with him if you see him - he's so happy.

"Anybody that sees him absolutely falls in love with him.

"He's like an old man in a little body - the things he comes out with, he's absolutely hysterical."
