A former police officer has appeared in court charged with misconduct following an investigation by the force’s Professional Standards Department.

Owen Mills, 22, of Bude, Cornwall, has been charged with two counts of corrupt or improper exercise of police powers and privileges by a constable.

Mills appeared at Cannock Magistrates’ Court today (Wednesday, April 16) and was granted bail.

He is scheduled to appear at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on May 16.

The charges follow an internal investigation into Mills' conduct while serving as a police officer.
