Stafford Borough Council has been awarded over £730,000 in government funding to help reduce homelessness and rough sleeping in 2025/26.

The funding includes a £90,000 boost to the Homeless Prevention Grant, which will support services such as a Citizen’s Advice housing adviser and emergency accommodation maintenance.

Part of the funding will continue to support Turning Point’s specialist housing scheme for rough sleepers with complex needs. The facility provides 24/7 staffed accommodation and has been praised for its positive impact.

Additional funding includes nearly £39,000 for community-based housing through Waythrough and Housing First, supported by House of Bread.

Councillor Jill Hood said the funding is focused on prevention, support services, and improving temporary housing, helping the council and partners prevent homelessness for over 1,100 households last year.
