Sixth person charged over death of Stoke-on-Trent man

Five others have already been charged with murder

A sixth person has been charged in connection with the death of a man who was found in an alleyway in Stoke-on-Trent.

Thapelo Jali, aged 21, suffered serious injuries on Buccleuch Road, Normacot in the early hours of Monday 22 July.

Five people have already been charged in relation to this death, and in a fresh update officers have confirmed a sixth person are now facing charges.

Israar Tariq, 27, of Longton, Stoke-on-Trent, has been charged with murder and possession of a knife in a public place.

In a statement yesterday, Staffordshire Police said "A sixth man has been charged following the death of a man in Normacot, Stoke-on-Trent.

"Israar Tariq, 27, of Longton, Stoke-on-Trent, has been charged with murder and possession of a knife in a public place.

"It comes after we arrested a man at Heathrow Airport on Monday (2 September).

"Thapelo Jali, aged 21, was found in an alleyway with serious injuries on Buccleuch Road, Normacot, at 12.50am on Monday 22 July."

Police say they are continuing to support Thapelo's family.
