Public services to the Queen taking place across Staffordshire and Cheshire

Here's where special commemorations and civic services are happening

A number of public services to commemorate the life and reign of Queen Elizabeth II are taking place today (Sunday 18 September 2022) across Staffordshire and Cheshire.

9:30am Crewe - St Andrew's Church

A special public commemoration civic service will take place at St Andrew's Church. A number of local community groups and dignitaries will be attending, including members from Crewe Town Council and Cheshire East.

12.30pm Stafford - St Mary's Church

A public memorial service to commemorate the life of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II attended by the Mayor of Stafford Borough and other officials. Books of condolence can be signed after the service. The service will be attended by approximately 600 people and will consist of prayers, readings and songs.

6:30pm Stoke - Stoke Minster

The Stoke-on-Trent commemoration service will take place on the eve of the funeral, at 6.30pm at Stoke Minster. A short, formal procession with civic leaders will take place from Stoke Town Hall to Stoke Minster at 6.25pm. The procession will be led by the High Sheriff of Staffordshire, Ben Robinson MBE DL; Deputy Lieutenant of Staffordshire Pippa Gee; Stoke-on-Trent Lord Mayor Faisal Hussain; and Deputy Lord Mayor Lesley Adams.

8pm Stoke - Stoke Cenotaph

The service at Stoke Minster will be followed by the National Moment of Reflection outside King's Hall at Stoke Cenotaph. All residents are welcome.

8pm Newcastle - Queen's Gardens

Residents are being invited to the National Moment of Reflection ceremony on Sunday at 8pm in Newcastle town centre. It will take place outside Castle House in Queen’s Gardens. If you wish to attend, please arrive for 7.50pm.

8pm Kidsgrove - Town Hall

For residents who live in Kidsgrove and would prefer to stay local there will also be a Moment of Reflection at the town hall. If you wish to attend, please arrive for 7.50pm.
