£25,000 seized after stop-and-search in Stoke

It happened on Monday and led to two arrests

Police have seized a significant amount of cash, during the search of a property in Stoke-on-Trent.

At 12.40am on Monday (5 December), officers stopped a black BMW 3 Series on the A50 at Longton and found a quantity of suspected drugs and cash inside of the vehicle.

This led to a search of a property in Lightwood, where they seized cash, estimated to be in the region of £25,000, a designer watch and a mobile phone.

A 28-year-old man, from Stoke-on-Trent, was arrested on suspicion of driving a motor vehicle, with a proportion of a specified controlled drug above the specified limit - and possession with intent to supply class B drugs.

A 19-year-old man, also from Stoke-on-Trent, was arrested on suspicion of contravening a relevant requirement imposed by money laundering and acquiring / using / possessing criminal property.

Both men have been released under investigation and inquiries are ongoing.
