A West Midlands police officer has been handed an 18 month suspended sentence for making indecent images of children.

PC Kurt Haydon, 38, from Rugeley was convicted in June of three counts of making indecent images.

Haydon worked as a response officer in West Bromwich, before being suspended by West Midlands Police in May 2021.

Staffordshire Police searched a house in Cannock linked to Haydon in January 2019, after receiving intelligence that someone had been accessing indecent images of children online.

Following searches of electronic devices, Haydon was charged in May 2021.

At Stafford Crown Court today (10 Aug), the 38-year-old was sentenced to 18 months, suspended for two years. He's also been ordered to do 30 days rehabilitation and 150 hours unpaid work.

West Midlands Police said he will face misconduct proceedings in due course.
