Man charged after death of woman in Ellesmere Port

A 48-year-old man has been charged in relation to the death of 38-year-old Jennifer Smith.

Peter Scargill of Cherry Road, Cheshire has been charged with manslaughter, stalking involving serious alarm and distress and blackmail.

Jennifer was found dead at an address in Ellesmere Port in June 2023.

A Cheshire police spokesperson said, "Cheshire Constabulary and the Crown Prosecution Service remind all concerned that criminal proceedings against Mr Scargill are now active and that he has a right to a fair trial.

"It is extremely important that there should be no reporting, commentary or sharing of information online which could in any way prejudice these proceedings."
