Pensioner dies in Staffordshire motorbike crash

Police are keen to hear from any witnesses

Officers from the Staffordshire and West Midlands Serious Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision in the village of Forton, Staffordshire on Saturday 23 October.

The collision occurred at around 3:19pm. Officers attended Eccleshall Road at the junction of Meretown Lane following a report of a collision between a black Mercedes car and blue Honda motorcycle.

Despite the best efforts of the medical team, the rider of the motorcycle, a 72-year-old man from the Newport area, died at the scene.

Officers are keen to speak with witnesses to the collision or to those who may have seen the motorcycle or Mercedes beforehand. Officers are also urging those with relevant dashcam footage to get in touch.
