The fight for clean air around a North Staffordshire landfill is gathering momentum as more and more famous faces join protesters.
Dozens took to the gates of Walleys Quarry in Silverdale this morning in frustration over ongoing noxious fumes, health concerns and traffic issues surrounding the site.
Local former Stoke City kit man and mascot, the Marvellous Neil 'Nello' Baldwin pitched up spending his 76th birthday in solidarity with protesters.
"It's a horrible smell." said Neil.
"What is the government doing? I know the MP's done something for it, but it's still smelling.
"When you go past it in the car it's smelling, I smell it my house. Get it closed up now.
"This is my area, Stoke-on-Trent and Newcastle, and I'm proud to be here, but this is a disgrace to this area and it should never have been done.
"I'm proud to be here with these people today. Stop the stink!"
Walleys Quarry Ltd say emissions from the site fall well within the regulatory limits of those expected at such sites.
