More than two kilograms in monkey dust packages seized
They were due to be delivered to addresses in Stoke-on-Trent
Officers have seized more than two kilograms of monkey dust as the Staffordshire force continue efforts to tackle drug-related crime.
On Wednesday 19 April, two suspicious packages which were due to be delivered to addresses in Stoke-on-Trent were seized. Contents were tested and 1,025 grams of monkey dust was found inside. Two men from Stoke-on-Trent were voluntarily interviewed about the findings.
The activity follows an ongoing commitment to tackling drug crime across the region and has seen officers targeting the supply of monkey dust alongside key local partners in Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire.
Chief Inspector Rob Hessell from the Stoke South local policing team (LPT) said: “Results like this are vital in the long-term disruption of illegal drugs in Staffordshire.
“We recognise the lasting and damaging impact these drugs have on vulnerable members of our communities and the links they have between exploitation and the organised crime groups responsible for selling them.
“Drug supply remains a priority for all ten of our LPTs who are working proactively to stop those responsible and to protect those most at risk of exploitation.
“With a proactive focus, we can continue to act on new intelligence leads, support the most vulnerable and work alongside our partners to bring those responsible to justice.”
