Man jailed after harassing woman
27-year-old Jake Hamnett was sentenced last week
A man has been jailed for more than a year after he harassed a woman for around 18-months.
Jake Hamnett, 27, from Stoke-on-Trent, was sentenced to one-year-and-four-months behind bars at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court last Friday, after he pleaded guilty to two counts of harassment – breach of a restraining order on conviction.
Between December 2023 and June 2025, Hamnett repeatedly sent messages via social media to the victim, despite a restraining order banning him from having any contact with her.
When Hamnett was arrested, he initially denied that he sent the messages but eventually pleaded guilty in court when faced with evidence gathered by the local policing team.
Sergeant Mitchell Cliffe said: “We do not underestimate the profound impact of Hamnett’s offending had on the victim in this case.
“Restraining orders are put in place to protect victims and I hope this sentencing shows that we will take robust action against those do not adhere to them.”
